I'm a lifelong Michigander. I was raised in the Thumb, loving the rural and agricultural history of the state, before moving to the west side to attend Grand Valley State University and then Thomas M. Cooley Law School. When it was time to purchase my first home twelve years ago, I chose Plainfield Township because it is the perfect balance of so many things - rural and urban, busy and quiet, and established and full of potential.
Professionally, I have worked remotely in human resources for growing startups in California and Washington. My focus has always been to create programs, streamline processes, and support employees to build resilient organizations.
I am running for election so that I can continue the work of building our community to be a great place to live and do business. There is so much potential in Plainfield and I hope to add my experience and perspective to the conversations and decisions that are being made today that will impact our community far into the future.
I have been serving the community in different capacities for years:
Everyone communicates a little differently. I value listening to understand, so that I can be a bridge between people and organizations. I keep an objective mindset to represent everyone.
Speed matters, but so does quality. I value working hard, being thorough, taking care, and doing my job well. I love to learn and will take the time to prepare when faced with a new issue.
We all have unique skills and talents and when we share those with others we all win. I value sharing my time and gifts with others both professionally and personally.
There is a housing shortage in the West Michigan area making it difficult for our community to grow and to welcome new neighbors. I support the new Master Plan in encouraging more creativity in housing types and locations while protecting our natural landscapes and history, and I will work to build on partnerships with surrounding areas and developers to help address the housing shortage.
Plainfield Township is home to many great businesses and has the potential to become the home to many more. With the help of the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, we have the ability to encourage new development that previously might not have worked out and welcome new businesses and work towards fulfilling the vision of Reimagine Plainfield.
We've made considerable investment in the development of more than 7 miles of trails since the dedicated, 10-year millage passed in 2016. And we have many more miles to go! On top of that, we have an ambitious Parks and Recreation Master Plan with vision for improved parks. I believe these are essential parts of the character of Plainfield Township and support the commitment to those investments.
